SKIN ROUTINE
My skin has been a nightmare for the last couple of years, I never used to have acne during my teens but as soon as I hit 20 my skin decided to completely blow up on me. I am now 23 & I've finally managed to beat the acne!
I would search for remedies online & watch numerous YouTube videos in desperation to find a way of preventing break outs or calming down active acne but the only options that seemed to work were very expensive, such as; skin peels, vampire facial, dermatologist advice etc. So I decided to look at things or situations that were possibly making me breakout & found out that it was how I was treating my skin from the inside as well as the outside.
DIET
Carrots are very good for your skin, I read up some good skin foods & carrot seemed to be the main one, so I decided to snack on chopped up carrots every other day or so. I also started making my own green smoothies too, if you're not too keen on your veg then this is a great way to mask them but still get them down you! Water is also a must, I'm terrible at drinking water so I would put a little bit of squash in with it. Also eating a balanced diet, don't eat too much of one thing even if it's healthy as there will be side effects. (my teeth started getting very sensitive when I ate a lot of acidic fruit).
SKIN CARE
I was bought the Clarisonic as a present a few months ago & I have to say it does work wonders but I did start to over use it which caused my skin to get a bit sore. I now use it once every other night before I go to bed instead of twice a day which is originally what I was doing! It is pricey but a good investment, I think there are now cheaper versions of the clarisonic in Boots.
Cleansing & Toning I do this every day twice a day, I never used to use toner as I never thought it would help with my acne but it has done wonders! I wash my face with very wam water to open my pores, then I use my clean & clear cleanser let it dry then i gently put toner all over my face & neck! If I've had a break out then I will use my witch stick & dab it on the affected areas before putting my toner on. The toner then closes up your pores to prevent any dirt/bacteria getting in them.
I know this seems a bit backwards but I then apply a traditional cold cream over the top as it cools down any swelling or redness from the acne.
Every so often I "roll" my face too, I looked into dermatologically rolling my face but it was way too expensive per treatment so I went on eBay & bought a cheap roller with a short needles (easier & less painful).
